Our Sheets
Anatomy of a Aussino Sheet
Great sheets mean great sleep. Aussino sheets are crafted from the highest quality, hand-picked and finely woven. The result? Sumptuously soft sheets that you’re excited to get in bed with. Our sheets get better with age – it’s a mark of the high-quality materials we’re committed to using. Don’t be afraid to throw them in the wash, they’ll only get softer.
1. Type of Sheets
Fitted Sheet
- Fitted Sheet is a sheet that covers the mattress with the elastic band at the 4 corners.
Flat Sheet
- A sheet that covers the mattress without the elastic band at the 4 four corners.
Quilt Cover
- Quilt Cover is used as a blanket and a separate quilt is used to insert into a quilt cover.
Comforter Set
- Is a similar to a quilt but the quilt cover and quilt are sewn together. Thus, when washing the quilt cover and the quilt have to wash as a whole.
2. Thread Count
Thread count is the number of threads woven together in a square inch or 10 square centimeters of fabric. As the thread count rises, the fabric becomes softer, denser and warmer.
A higher thread count does not necessarily mean a higher quality sheet.
Thread counts advertised in excess of 500 are often misrepresented by manufacturers in order to trick customers. They count not just each thread, but each ply spun together within each thread. As multi-ply construction is often used to strengthen lower-grade cotton, a super high thread count can actually indicate the presence of a lower-quality sheet.
3. Weaves
The weave of a fabric ultimately affects how it looks and feels. Both our weaves are 100% cotton however, they are distinctively different in texture.
Percale
Is a traditional one-yarn-over and one-yarn-under weave fabric that results in a matte finish and crisp hand feel. Percale fabric is lighter in weight and more breathable making it perfect for warmer sleepers. It’s incredibly soft and durable mean it gets better with every wash, without pilling.
Sateen
Sateen is a one-yarn-under and three-yarn-over weave that create a silky-smooth surface with a luminous sheen and is known for its lustre and drape. Sateen is usually a little thicker and more tightly woven. It has a soft, inviting touch, perfect to snuggle into bed all year round.
